Preparation
- In a mixing bowl, combine 4 cups of all-purpose flour, 2 teaspoons of instant yeast, and 1 teaspoon of salt.
- Gradually add 1 cup of warm water and 2 tablespoons of olive oil to the dry mixture, mixing with a wooden spoon or spatula until smooth.
- Knead the dough in the bowl for about 5 to 10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Cover the bowl with a clean towel and let it rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour, until it doubles in size.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Assembly
- After the dough has risen, place it on a floured surface and roll it out into a rectangle, approximately 1/4 inch thick.
- Spread the roasted garlic evenly over the dough, then sprinkle with 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese and 1/4 cup of chopped fresh herbs.
- Roll the dough tightly into a log shape and place it seam side down in a greased loaf pan.
- Cover the loaf with a towel and let it rise again for another 30 minutes.
- After it has risen, brush the top with 1/4 cup of melted butter.
Baking
- Bake the bread in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes, until golden brown.
- Let it cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool slightly.
- Slice and enjoy warm!
Notes
For best results, serve warm with olive oil for dipping. Can be stored at room temperature for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
