Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
Decoration
  • 3/4 cup colored sugar for decoration

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a small bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, and baking powder.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth.
  4. Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract.
  5. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients.
Baking
  1. Roll rounded spoonfuls of dough into balls, then roll in colored sugar.
  2. Place on ungreased cookie sheets, and flatten slightly.
  3. Bake 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden.
  4. Allow cookies to cool on wire racks.

Notes

Serve with tea or milk; store in an airtight container for freshness.
