  • 1 cup fat-free half and half For a lighter option.
  • 4 tablespoons cocoa powder Use unsweetened cocoa powder.
  • 3 tablespoons sugar Consider using a natural sweetener for fewer calories.
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt Enhances the flavor.
Flavor Additions
  • 3 tablespoons coffee liqueur Optional, but adds a nice kick.
  • 3 tablespoons butterscotch schnapps For that butterscotch flavor.
Toppings (Optional)
  • to taste whipped cream or mini marshmallows For a sweet touch.
  • to taste butterscotch syrup Drizzle on top for extra sweetness.

Preparation
  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the milk, fat-free half and half, cocoa powder, sugar, and salt.
  2. Heat over medium heat until the mixture is steaming hot, stirring occasionally.
Mixing Ingredients
  1. Once hot, remove the saucepan from heat.
  2. Stir in the coffee liqueur and butterscotch schnapps until well combined.
Serving
  1. Pour the hot chocolate into 2 heat-safe mugs.
  2. Top with whipped cream or mini marshmallows and drizzle with butterscotch syrup, if desired.

Notes

Best served fresh for optimal flavor. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days and gently reheat before serving. Freezing is not recommended.
