Preparation
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for about 30 seconds or until fragrant.
- Stir in the black beans, cumin, and chili powder. Mix everything together thoroughly.
- Pour in the broth. As it heats, mash the beans with a spatula or another utensil until they are mostly smooth.
- If needed, add additional broth to get to your desired consistency.
- Finally, season with salt and lime juice to your taste, if desired.
Notes
These beans can be served as a side dish with grilled chicken or fish, used as a filling for tacos or burritos, and are great for meal prep. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
