Preparation
- In a trifle bowl or large glass dish, layer ladyfinger cookies or sponge cake at the bottom.
- If using, soak the cookies with a bit of fruit juice or liqueur.
- Add a layer of vanilla pudding or custard over the cookies.
- Next, add a layer of fresh fruits of your choice.
- Top with a layer of whipped cream.
- Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of whipped cream on top.
- Garnish with shaved chocolate or nuts if desired.
- Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
Notes
Best served chilled. Can be enjoyed on its own or with a cup of coffee or tea. Optionally add a sprig of mint for a fresh touch on top. Store in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, but consume within the first couple of days for best flavor.
