Ingredients
  

For the Trifle
  • 1 package Ladyfinger cookies or sponge cake Use gluten-free if needed.
  • 2 cups Vanilla pudding or custard Can use store-bought for convenience.
  • 2 cups Whipped cream Freshly whipped is preferred.
  • 2 cups Fresh fruits (such as strawberries, blueberries, bananas) Use a mix of your favorite fruits.
  • 1/2 cup Shaved chocolate or nuts Optional, for garnish.
  • 1/2 cup Fruit juice or liqueur Optional, for soaking the cake.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a trifle bowl or large glass dish, layer ladyfinger cookies or sponge cake at the bottom.
  2. If using, soak the cookies with a bit of fruit juice or liqueur.
  3. Add a layer of vanilla pudding or custard over the cookies.
  4. Next, add a layer of fresh fruits of your choice.
  5. Top with a layer of whipped cream.
  6. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of whipped cream on top.
  7. Garnish with shaved chocolate or nuts if desired.
  8. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving to allow the flavors to meld.

Notes

Best served chilled. Can be enjoyed on its own or with a cup of coffee or tea. Optionally add a sprig of mint for a fresh touch on top. Store in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, but consume within the first couple of days for best flavor.
