Method
Preparation
- In a mixing bowl, combine the ground meat, garlic, ginger, scallions, onion, cabbage or bok choy, carrot, and mushrooms. Season with salt, white or black pepper, soy sauce, and sugar, and mix until everything is well-combined.
Soften Rice Papers
- In a shallow dish, pour water and soak the rice papers one at a time until they become pliable. This usually takes just a few seconds. Place them on a clean surface flat.
Assemble Dumplings
- For each rice paper, place about 1 to 2 tablespoons of the dumpling filling in the center. Fold the sides over the filling and then roll it up tightly from the bottom to seal the dumpling.
Cook Dumplings
- If using an air fryer, preheat it to 375°F (190°C) and place the dumplings in a single layer in the basket, lightly spritz with cooking spray or drizzle with oil, then cook for about 10-15 minutes or until crispy and golden brown.
- If pan-frying, heat a small amount of oil in a frying pan over medium heat, add the dumplings, and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side or until they are golden brown and crispy.
Prepare Dipping Sauce
- In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, rice vinegar, sugar, and sesame seeds. Adjust the flavors to your liking.
Serve
- Once the dumplings are cooked, serve them hot with the dipping sauce on the side. Enjoy the crispy exterior and flavorful filling.
Notes
These dumplings are great for meal prep! Assemble and keep in the refrigerator, cooking them later. Store in an airtight container for up to three days, or freeze uncooked. Customize the filling to suit your dietary needs.
