  • 3 g 2/3 tsp yeast Vital for fermentation.
  • 17 g 1.5 tbsp potato starch Contributes to crispy texture.
  • 0.5 tsp 1/2 tsp baking powder Provides additional lift.
  • 25 ml 2 tbsp oil Used in frying.
  • 40 g 1/3 cup powdered sugar For dusting.

Method
 

Mixing the Dough
  1. Combine all dough ingredients, except butter, in your stand mixer bowl. Mix on low speed for 2–3 minutes.
Incorporating Butter
  1. Add the butter and continue to mix for another 7-8 minutes until a smooth dough forms.
Fermentation
  1. Cover the dough with plastic wrap and let it rise in a warm place at about 28-30°C for 60 minutes, or until doubled in size.
Dividing the Dough
  1. Gently press the dough to release excess gas and divide it into 6 equal pieces using a kitchen scale.
Resting
  1. Roll each piece into a smooth ball, cover with plastic wrap, and let rest for 10-15 minutes.
Shaping
  1. Shape the rested dough into your desired donut shape.

Notes

These donuts can be made with whole-grain flour for a more nutritious option, and they store well in an airtight container. Variations can include adding spices like cinnamon or vanilla extract.
