Preparation of Sushi Rice
- Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
- In a pot, combine the rinsed sushi rice with 1 1/4 cups of water and bring to a boil.
- Cover and reduce heat to a simmer for 18-20 minutes until the rice is tender.
- Remove from heat and let it sit covered for an additional 10 minutes.
Flavoring the Rice
- Stir this mixture into the cooked rice and let it cool slightly.
Assembling the Bowls
- In serving bowls, layer the seasoned sushi rice with crab meat, avocado slices, julienned cucumber, and green onions.
Garnishing and Serving
- Sprinkle sesame seeds on top of the bowls and serve with strips of nori on the side.
Notes
California Roll Sushi Bowls can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Keep ingredients separate to maintain freshness. For meal prep, prepare the sushi rice and chop vegetables in advance.
